Workshops
No workshops near you - why not host one?
If you are interested in TTouch or my work with reactivity, then a workshop is an ideal way to gets hands-on experience. Workshops are generally limited in number so that everyone can actively participate. The emphasis in a workshop is on hands-on learning in an informal and fun environment.
Some courses include handler places for an additional supplement. Handlers get to work with their own dogs. Non-handlers have the opportunity to practice with each other and (where appropriate) attending dogs, so that they gain practical skills to be able to take away. I do not normally have "spectators" at workshops as I find that it is very difficult for them to merely spectate!
I am available by arrangement to run these workshops anywhere in the UK, Europe or further afield* so if you would like to host one close to you, please get in touch.
Requirements
What is needed for hosting is a suitable venue and ideally local contacts to publicise the workshop.
For Your End of the Lead the venue can be any comfortable hall where 20-30 people can be seated, preferably around tables, with some additional space to move around. Village halls and Community Centres work well.
TTouch workshops (except the reactivity workshop - see below) require a dog-friendly venue with suitable outdoor space for exercise, sufficient space indoor and/or outdoor for 8-10 dogs to have plenty of room from each other, and safe (ideally private and shady) parking for times when dogs need to be in the car. Dog training centres, dog friendly village halls and equine centres are good.
Both Ends of the Lead and TTouch for Reactivity require multiple outdoor or indoor spaces and private parking as dogs need much more space from each other and will often be worked individually - these are best suited to larger venues such as purpose built dog training centres or venues with plenty of outdoor space.
Costs
My fees are £500 for a 1-day workshop, £900 for a 2-day workshop and £1200 for a 3-day workshop + expenses (travel, accommodation, if needed, and main meals if not provided). This includes a PDF of a booklet that can either be printed or distributed to participants.
You arrange the venue, manage bookings, provide refreshments, and publicise and organise the day (though I will of course help with publicity where I can).
You can charge whatever is appropriate for your location, but the recommended charge per participant is £50-70 per day with a £10-20 supplement for a handler place (where applicable).
